So we began our morning in beautiful Terrace Bay at 11 degrees and a cold wind blowing off Lake Superior. It was pretty dang cold.
We weren’t sure where we were going to end up, Dunc Lake or 40km further at White River. However, early into the ride we saw a sign with Winnie the Pooh on it saying, “Where It All Began – White River.” We knew right then that we were going straight through.
I told Nate, “We will find an all you can eat Indian buffet in White River for sure. If there is one thing I know about Winnie the Pooh it’s his insatiable appetite for Indian food.” Who can forget the classic Pooh line, “Rabbit, do you have any more masala.” And he is always fist deep in a jar of butter chicken sauce.
As it turns out my memory had failed me as far as my Pooh recollections, and White River has a population of 1,000 and cannot support an all you can eat buffet of any kind 😔
However tomorrow promises to be a great ride as since we went big today (165km) we have less to do tomorrow (about 95km). SURELY the great Town of Wawa will have MULTIPLE all you can eat buffets and we will make them pay for their poor business decisions. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Oh, also of note is that today I tried (on the request of a Townie from Terrace Bay) a Green Monster Energy Drink. I should have been put off by his lack of teeth, but I thought, ‘How bad could it be?’
Anyway, it was a pretty nice ride today will nice scenery and some pretty brutal hills, but the second half of the ride was much flatter and made me happy.
Kilometers cycled today: 165
