Song: I’ve Got You
So here I am… writing for this project about 2 weeks behind schedule. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’ve failed in my initial goal and promise to listen to something new and share about it each day. Life got crazier than I could have ever imagined for a while and it writing this now is a good reminder that sometimes you just need to live in the present and deal with what’s going on in the present sometimes. In hindsight perhaps it’s no surprise that I fell off writing regularly on April 20th – the 1 year anniversary of my mom passing away. It was a busy weekend for me taking some much needed time for self-care as I ventured to Philadelphia and NYC to see Stars twice and catch “The Book of Mormon” on Broadway. It was a weekend filled with love, laughter, and one I don’t think I’ll ever forget.
Throughout this project and especially the past couple of weeks, my friend Tom has continued to send me suggestions for songs to explore and share. I’ve sort of lost track of the order he sent them in, but this is the first I listened just now. Maybe it was my subconscious that made me pick it first since I recognized the name as a band I’ll be seeing in June this year for the first time. Tom said he sent me the suggestion even before he had finished listening to the song. Lyrically it’s a tearjerker for sure and overall it’s a really nice song. It makes me excited to see them as part of the shows in June.
365 New Tunes is a project inspired by a tweet from the band Stars on December 31st, 2017 encouraging people to listen to a new song every day of the next year.
RT if you promise to listen to a piece of music you have never heard before every single day in 2018.#musicsaveslives
