Song 2: The National – Anyone’s Ghost
Artist: The National
Song: Anyone’s Ghost
Like so many people these days I consume a lot of my music on the go. Having always been too lazy to actually transfer the music I’ve bought onto my music on my phone I would often just stream music using Soundcloud, Spotify (the free version with annoying ads) or Youtube. This always felt limiting though as I had to be mindful of my data use or make sure I was using wi-fi somewhere. A little before my bike trip though when I was talking to my good pal Chris Wilson about wanting to have music with me on the trip he was kind enough to set me up with his ‘family’ Google Music account. Since then things haven’t been the same. Much like with a Spotify Premium account, having a paid account with Google Music means I have access to countless hours of music which I can download to my phone easily and listen to whenever I please. A true game-changer. Super grateful for his kindness. More than just kind though Chris is an AWESOME COACH and someone I STRONGLY recommend you reach out to if you’re looking for some extra support with those your New Years resolutions.
Seriously, go to his website and get in touch with him. https://simplifyyourwhy.com
Back to the main point of this post though… one of the bands I’d been meaning to explore more of the music of for what seems like years now has been The National. I remember back in 2013 when they released their album “Trouble Will Find Me” that one of my best friends Tania spoke really highly of it. That should have been my cue to look into them more, but alas I didn’t explore much beyond that album which I did really enjoy. With them playing Toronto and Hamilton recently and me having considered attending one of the shows I downloaded most of their discography with the intention of listening to more of it. While I didn’t end up at either of the shows the music has been sitting there on my phone and until recently I hadn’t given much of it a listen. Today though I decided to randomly pick a song and ended up with this one. I like it!
365 New Tunes is a project inspired by a tweet from the band Stars on December 31st, 2017 encouraging people to listen to a new song every day of the next year.
RT if you promise to listen to a piece of music you have never heard before every single day in 2018.#musicsaveslives
