Artist: Moscow Apartment
Song: Be You
I heard new music today in the morning on the way to work in my partner’s car, on my lunch break riding in my co-worker’s car, and again definitely later that night while in the car going to my friend’s place I heard some new music as well. As seems to be the case as of late though if I don’t immediately write it down I seem to forget it. I have to confess that every time I forget something it scares me. And by scares me I mean terrifies me. The idea that I might one day get Alzheimer’s is likely one of the terrifying thoughts to ever enter my mind. Some days I just wish I could go back to a time when I was younger and didn’t think about these things. I opted to chose a song by a young up and coming band from Toronto as a way of embracing my youth. They were chosen as the Young Performers of the Year at the 2017 Canadian Folk Music Awards and Best Young Songwriters at the 2017 Toronto Independent Music. Moscow Apartment is a band I’ve meant to listen to for a while now after seeing Torquil Campbell and Stars tweet and talk so highly of them. From some research online I know at least half of the duo was involved in the rad program called Girl’s Rock Camp and that they’ve been friends for a while now having met through a choir in Toronto.
I like the song and am curious to hear more from them. I think I’ve like to see them live as well sometime since I get the feeling they’d have some great energy.
365 New Tunes is a project inspired by a tweet from the band Stars on December 31st, 2017 encouraging people to listen to a new song every day of the next year.
RT if you promise to listen to a piece of music you have never heard before every single day in 2018.#musicsaveslives
